The video above takes you on a city tour of Burleson, TX, a town of about 48,000 people sitting roughly 15 miles south of Fort Worth. It's a straight shot down from the city, and while it's generally considered a Fort Worth suburb, Burleson has its own identity — especially once you get into the Old Town area along Renfro Street. David Bridwell stopped through on his way to a gig in Glen Rose and spent some time walking around, eating, and catching live music before heading out.

Old Town Burleson and the Plaza

One of the first landmarks you'll notice coming into town is the plaza along Renfro Street, right next to the city hall building. There are some old railroad trolley cars parked out there, and just beyond that is Old Town Burleson — a walkable strip of restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, and a pizza spot. It's a compact area, easy to explore on foot, and it has a good mix of places to hang out. For a Tex-Mex lunch, Fresco's is a popular local pick where you can build your own combination plate. It's clearly a go-to spot for folks who live here.

What Are the Best Live Music Venues in Burleson, TX?

Burleson has a handful of solid spots for catching live music, mostly concentrated in and around the Old Town area:

  • The Spice Rack — A venue right in the Old Town strip that hosts live music acts regularly
  • The Lone Star Bar and Grill — Located a bit off the main Old Town drag, this is another spot that books live bands
  • Old Texas Brewing Company — A popular brewery with a rooftop area called the Sky Bar, where you can look out over the city while a band plays. David Bridwell caught The Shane Rogers Band there, and they were putting on a real rocking show.

The Old Texas Brewing Company stood out in particular. The Sky Bar upstairs gives you a view of the surrounding buildings, and there's a good energy up there when a band is going. It's the kind of place you'd want to end up on a weekend night.

Worth a Stop on the Way to Glen Rose

Burleson works well as a stop if you're heading south from Fort Worth toward places like Glen Rose. David Bridwell was on his way to play at the Sexton Mill, which is a fun live music venue out in Glen Rose with a big stage and food trucks on site. But rather than just blowing through Burleson, it's worth pulling off and spending a couple of hours in Old Town — grab some food, check the music calendar at one of the venues, and get a feel for the town. It's not trying to be Fort Worth; it's doing its own thing, and the music scene there reflects that.
