The video above is a walking tour of the city of Frisco, Texas — a suburb about 30 miles north of Dallas that has exploded from just 6,000 residents in 1990 to roughly 230,000 today. Headlines regularly call it the fastest-growing city in the United States, and after spending some time there, it's easy to see why people are drawn to it. David Bridwell made the trip out to Frisco while visiting Audio Dallas Recording Studio to lay down some new tracks, and he took the opportunity to walk the historic downtown, check out the sports scene, and scout the local live music spots along Main Street.

What Is There to Do in Frisco, Texas?

Frisco has become a major destination for sports, shopping, and entertainment. The city is home to five professional sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys headquarters at The Star District, the Dallas Stars hockey headquarters, FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium, the Frisco RoughRiders (a AA minor league baseball team affiliated with the Rangers), the Texas Legends (the Mavericks' G League basketball team), and the Frisco Fighters indoor football team. The Star District doubles as an entertainment hub with restaurants and shopping beyond just football. Stonebriar Centre is another popular spot for dining and retail. There are even reports of a Universal Studios theme park coming to Frisco by 2026. The historic downtown, known as the Rail District, runs along Main Street with vintage buildings, boutiques, and restaurants. Nearby, Frisco Square is seeing a lot of new development and hosts Music on the Square events.

Recording at Audio Dallas

The main reason for the trip was a session at Audio Dallas Recording Studio, where David Bridwell recorded a couple of original songs including "Cemetery Road" and a tune about alligators in the swamp. The video gives you a look inside the studio alongside the Frisco walking tour, which makes it a good watch if you're interested in both the local music scene and what goes into putting songs down on tape. Frisco may not be the first place that comes to mind for Texas music, but between the Rail District venues and the growing entertainment districts, there's more happening here than most people realize.
