The video above takes you on a full tour of Fort Worth nightlife, covering 12 different venues from the Stockyards to Sundance Square downtown and into several surrounding neighborhoods. It's a solid look at what the live music scene actually feels like across the city, with stops at honky tonks, jazz clubs, breweries, barbecue joints, and dedicated music venues. If you're trying to figure out where to go out in Fort Worth on any given night, this is a good place to start.

Where Can You Find Live Music in Fort Worth?

Fort Worth has live music spread across several distinct neighborhoods, and the video covers a wide range of them. Here are the 12 venues featured, plus a couple of bonus stops:

  • Billy Bob's Texas — The world's largest honky tonk, open daily in the Stockyards with weekend bull riding, two stages, and big-name country and classic rock acts. Jon Wolfe was the headliner during this visit.
  • Rhinestone Saloon — The late-night spot in the Stockyards with a younger crowd, a bit of a club scene, and 10 p.m. shows on weekends. David Adam Byrnes was playing here.
  • Sundance Square — The downtown community plaza hosts live music Wednesday through Sunday during the summer, plus special events. Summer Dean and Matt Hillyer were performing during the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival.
  • Scat Jazz Lounge — A speak-easy-style jazz club in a subterranean space right off Sundance Square, recognized as one of the top spots for jazz in the region. The Black Dog Jam session was happening on a Sunday visit.
  • Bankhead Brewing Company — A rustic brew pub near the Cultural District with wood-fired pizza and a chill atmosphere. Larry Lampkin and the band were performing.
  • Birdie's Social Club — A colorful cocktail bar with a golf theme, good food, and a weekly Wednesday open mic night. Breezy Branches was featured.
  • Southside Preservation Hall — A historic venue housed in an old 1909 church building saved from demolition in 1995. It has an intimate Rose Chapel for songwriter-focused shows, where Heather Little performed, and a larger hall that hosts swing dance nights with Buddy's Big Band.
  • Rahr & Sons Brewing — A large brewery in the South Main Village neighborhood with an outdoor space and occasional live music. Paul Renna was playing against a backdrop of beer cans.
  • Tulips — A dedicated music venue in the same area with a big stage and ticketed shows for touring acts. Hooray for the Riff Raff was the show here.
  • Heim Barbecue on the River — A husband-and-wife barbecue spot on the West Fork of the Trinity River that features live music sometimes. Andrew Jones was playing during this stop.
  • Central Market — A grocery store with a front porch live music setup, where Rath Moore, a Celtic rock band from the Dallas–Fort Worth area, was performing.
  • Magnolia Motor Lounge — One of the top music venues in Fort Worth, located at the end of Camp Bowie along a big traffic circle. Features ticketed shows and sometimes free weekday events. The Low Down Drifters and Ellis Bullard (up from Austin) both played here.

From the Stockyards to South Main Village

What stands out about Fort Worth nightlife is how different each neighborhood feels. The Stockyards give you the honky tonk experience with Billy Bob's and the rowdier late-night energy at Rhinestone Saloon. Downtown around Sundance Square is more of a walkable, open-air scene with options like Scat Jazz Lounge just steps away. Head toward the Cultural District and South Main Village and you get a mix of breweries, dedicated music rooms like Tulips and Magnolia Motor Lounge, and the historic character of Southside Preservation Hall. David Bridwell also makes a bonus stop at Levitt Pavilion in Arlington to catch the 2024 solar eclipse, which passed through Texas with totality — the time-lapse footage of the moon covering the sun is worth watching through to the end.
