The video above is a solid quick-hit tour of Webster, TX — a small city of about 12,000 people sitting roughly halfway between Houston and Galveston, about 21 miles southeast of downtown. Webster might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of Texas music, but it's got a legitimate country dance hall, surprisingly good food, and one of the most famous space facilities on the planet right in its backyard. David Bridwell stopped through Webster on his way to a gig in nearby Santa Fe, Texas, and the video covers what he found worth checking out along the way.

What Is There to Do in Webster, TX?

Webster's biggest claim to fame is NASA's Johnson Space Center, which put this little suburb on the map in a serious way. Right at the entrance you can see Falcon Park, where they've got a T-38 supersonic jet trainer and the Boilerplate BP/K test capsule on display — both cool pieces of space history you can check out without even going inside. Nearby, Clear Lake Park sits right along the water and is a good spot to unwind, with people out on boats and plenty of green space. For food, Antonin's Subs is a local favorite where the portions are huge and the quality backs up their motto. The Italian sub in particular is worth the stop.

Where Can You Go Country Dancing Near Webster, TX?

If you're looking for live music and dancing in the Webster area, the main spot to know about is Rowdy's. It came up in the video as the place to hit after a long night, and it delivered.

After the Webster stop, David Bridwell headed out to Santa Fe, Texas to perform at 3 Acres Food Truck Park, which is a community gathering spot with food trucks, an outdoor stage, and even a trailer full of arcade-style games. It's the kind of place where local families and friends show up on a weekend evening, grab some food, and catch live music under the open sky.

A Quick Stop Worth Knowing About

Webster originally got its start as a settlement founded by English immigrants in the late 1800s, largely because of its convenient location between Houston and Galveston. That midway-point geography still defines the town — it's easy to get to from either direction, which makes it a practical stop whether you're heading to the coast or coming back into the city. Between the space center, the dancing at Rowdy's, and solid local eats, there's more going on here than most people realize. If you're touring the greater Houston area or road-tripping down to Galveston, it's worth pulling off the highway for a bit.
